Gas Electron Diffraction (GED) is the most powerful method to determine structure of free molecules undistorted by intermolecular forces in liquids or crystals. The data are therefore directly comparable to quantum-chemical results and serve as reference for theoretical approximations. Analysis of electron diffraction patterns with special programs allows to determine also dynamical parameters of molecules.
